When Canon launched the IXUS 130 in February 2010, it was the slimmest IXUS the company had ever made, just 17.8 mm at its thickest point. Sold in North America as the PowerShot SD1400 IS and in Japan as the IXY 400F, it packed a 14.1-megapixel CCD sensor and a 4x zoom running from a true 28mm wide angle to 112mm, with Canon's optical image stabilizer to keep things sharp in low light. It also records 720p HD video. CCD sensors are prized again today for their color rendering, the clean, slightly nostalgic look that defines the digicam revival, and few cameras deliver it in a smaller, more elegant package.
